The world’s leading instant messaging app, Whatsapp, will
soon begin to share more data with the social media giant Facebook. Whatspp
gained its popularity due to its ease of use, privacy status, and simplicity as
almost every phone that has access to the internet and or GPS can use the app.
So Whatsapp will now begin sharing information like user’s
phone numbers, last time such persons used Whatsapp and the likes with
Facebook. They made this known stating
that this will help offer better friend suggestions and more relevant ads on
Facebook and help eradicate spam abuse.
This is the first time Whatsapp is changing its privacy
policy after it was bought over by the social media giants – Facebook.
To many people, like me, this is actually a letdown as it
portrays a sense of betrayal. I don’t like sharing my phone numbers online.
But the good news here is that users have the way out. You
can simply choose to opt out of the data sharing policy if you don’t like it by
just simply following some steps stated out on the company’s website.
