First Cargo Airline Lands in Enugu International Airport

Cargo Airline
History was made Tuesday, 23rd of August, as the first ever cargo (goods-carrying) aircraft landed successfully in the Akanu Ibiam international airport. This is the first ever cargo airline to land anywhere in the south-eastern part of the country.

Speaking shortly at the event to witness the landing, the state governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, commended all those who put in their efforts  including those in the federal government like Senator Ike Ekweremmadu, who put in their constituency funds, not forgetting those in the aviation sector who also did their best to ensure that this was a success. He went further to say that this will boost the business activities in the state and also trickle down to making the economy of the state and the south-east in general better.

For most of us here who do mini importation or the full-blown type, this development is a right step in the right direction as many bottlenecks facing importation and exportation will be greatly reduced.

It takes a lot to bring in goods from Lagos or the North were cargo airlines always landed before. Customs and other law enforcement agents on the roads during the conveyance of the goods and all these increases the cost of conveying the goods from the ports where they landed to the points where they are actually needed in the country.

This is great news for all of us.

Whatsapp to Start Sharing Users’ Phone Numbers and other data to Facebook

Whatsapp
The world’s leading instant messaging app, Whatsapp, will soon begin to share more data with the social media giant Facebook. Whatspp gained its popularity due to its ease of use, privacy status, and simplicity as almost every phone that has access to the internet and or GPS can use the app.

So Whatsapp will now begin sharing information like user’s phone numbers, last time such persons used Whatsapp and the likes with Facebook.  They made this known stating that this will help offer better friend suggestions and more relevant ads on Facebook and help eradicate spam abuse.

This is the first time Whatsapp is changing its privacy policy after it was bought over by the social media giants – Facebook.

To many people, like me, this is actually a letdown as it portrays a sense of betrayal. I don’t like sharing my phone numbers online.
But the good news here is that users have the way out. You can simply choose to opt out of the data sharing policy if you don’t like it by just simply following some steps stated out on the company’s website.

Do you think this a welcome development?
Let’s hear your view in the comment section below…

Get 3GB of Data for just N500 on Glo Mobile TGIF

The quest for who becomes the king of mobile data provider in Nigeria is heating up big time. We brought you information last week on how you can get up to 3GB data on MTN when you recharge with N500. We had barely finished talking about that when we learnt of the THANK GLO IT’S FRIDAY (TGIF) data subscription package from Glo mobile.

This kind of competition is a very welcome and healthy one. You can remember vividly that it was this kind of competition from Glo that knocked MTN down from their high heavens when they were having a field day in the Nigerian telecommunications sector selling one sim card for thousands of Naira with no competitor until Glo came calling; today, simcards are given out free of charge. We want more of these.

Back to what I was saying; the TGIF is a weekend data plan that allows Glo customers to enjoy surfing the internet and downloading any kind of stuff they want with a whooping 3GB of data that goes for just N500. The data is activated from 12am on Saturday morning till 5am on Monday mornings.

It’s very easy to activate. Just dial the USSD *777# on your phone and locate the weekend plans from the list.

What do you think about this plan from Glo?
Please just take 2 seconds to share…

Complete List of Latest Data Plans on the New Glo Data Supermart

The war over data superiority on the Nigerian telecommunication industry wages on. The latest inclucsion is the Glo mobile Data Supermart. Globacom Nigeria has rolled out a new and improved bumper fresh bouquet of data plans and bonuses which they tagged the new Glo Data Supermart.

This is a greatly reduced cost of data subscription that they introduced to meet the yearnings of their teeming customers and improve their convenience when it comes to cost of subscribing to data for browsing.

The breakdown is as follows:
1.5 gb of data N1000 for 1 month
3 gb of data N2000 for 1 month
4.5 gb of data N2500 for 1 month
6 gb of data N3000 for 1 month
9 gb of data N4000 for  1 month

In case you run short of data in the course of your subscription, it has an added incentive of getting 300 MB for N200 when it has to do with a weekly subscription but 1GB for N500 for monthly
subscriptions. WOW!

Everything can be accessed from the general Glo mobile data subscription USSD which is *777#.

For me I think this is a good development, so what do you think? Hit us in the comment section

Recharge your phone airtime free of charge with this app

Well, as at the time of writing this post, I have already completed my first test-run recharge of N15 on my phone using the free Banana Topup app. I've not used this app for up to two weeks and I've not been so consistent with it. See the evidence:

The app just requires you to do some simple things in exchange for coins.  Things like opening the app (checking in) every other day in it, watching some video ads for free, downloading some free apps and extra coins when you use those app you have downloaded.

These are very simple things you can just passively do in your free time or when you are just playing around with your pbone.

The app doesn't require you to get up to a thousand coins before you can use it to recharge your phone. By just accumulating as little as 200 coins,  you can change it for N15 worth of MTN airtime or 540 coins for N50 Airtel or even 460 coins for Glo and then 180 coins for Etisalat airtime as the minimum recharge .

You can Decide to leave the coins until they are much if you don't want to recharge just N15 and you can recharge with any network in Nigeria or in your country if you are not living in Nigeria. Just select your country and all the mobile networks in your country will appear in the list for you to select.

What could be better than getting a little airtime to say hi to a friend free of charge and save your little change?

If you venture to invite your friend,  it gets better. Just one invite will fetch you 50 coins. Just click to download the app from here and enjoy yourself with it.

Get up to 3Gb data for N500 on MTN WowWeekend

MTN has been blazing the trail lately  when it comes to freebies and special offers especially concerning free mobile data for surfing the internet. For the past one month, my weekends have been extremely enjoyable, all thanks to MTN jaw-dropping free data.

With just N500,  you can get yourself close to 3Gb of data to last from this Friday till 11:59 pm on Sunday night. Isn't this wow?

No long stories to this one.  Simply buy the conventional 750mb for N500 worth of data By dailing *131*103#. Shikina! MTN will immediately credit your data account with 2.25Gb of data that you can use throughout this weekend to do whatever you feel like. Now this is what I call wow! Confirm it with the text I got this morning:

You can easily check your bonus data balance by just dailing *131*4#. Download or chat what ever you want with this and enjoy your life.

I think they do this on weekends because most of the companies that use MTN data to run their businesses dont run on weekends so their and with is freed up a bit.

Also be on the lookout for the MTN WowWeekend every week. They will normally come up with a new style to bless their customers and reclaim their data market.

It's not first come first served. So share this to help someone like I just helped you.

FRAUD ALERT! How your money in the bank can be in danger and what to do to be safe

It is either you are living inside one of the caves in the Zankara Parks or taking a millennial nap if you have never received  a mail, text message, phone call or even heard about the scammers (fraudsters) or better still '419ers' according to our local parlance here, who go about requesting people to update their Bank Verification Number (BVN) or to protect their ATM cards from being blocked or even to upgrade it. They also come with the fake news that you have won something and require your bank details to claim your winnings.

Latest reports from banks have shown that this anomaly is seriously on the rise. All these fraudsters are targeting are your sensitive banking details such as Internet banking User ID,  Passwords, PINs, CSV code, OTP,  Token codes and many other vital security information.

Some of them will refer you to a site or blog where you'll be subtly prompted to enter some of these details either in a single online form or       a step by step guide to 'solving' your problem and immediately  you enter the last  detail, your account will be in red.

A close friend of mine almost fell for this bait. The website they referred him prompted his card number and the number at the back of the card. It was when they asked for his PIN number that something struck him and restored his senses. Some have also supplied details and witnessed international  transactions even in foreign currencies all occurring from their accounts in minutes.

Now to ensure you don't fall for any of those pranks, you have to strictly follow these precautionary measures:

Never reveal your passwords
On no account should you reveal your Internet Banking User ID, Password(s), Token numbers and ATM PINs to anyone. It is confidential and must be known to only you.

Mind how you respond to links
To be on the safer side, never open late links or mails requesting  you to update your bank details. Always go to the nearest branch of your bank to do that.

Don't respond to that call
Your bank can never request for your ATM PIN or Internet Banking details for any reason. It is surely a fraudulent call so press the red button.

Never save your passwords
Don't ever save your passwords phones, dairies, books or anywhere.  They are safer in your head. And you can easily recover your passwords or get a new one even when you forget them.

Always contact your bank
You should have the customer care phone number of your bank stored up in your phone. I have the contacts of the banks I run my accounts with.
Feel free to contact them in case you notice any gossips around your bank account.

I hope this helps you.
If you really love those ones you claim to love,  why not share this to protect them.

It is called MTN XTRAPRO. This is about the new MTN tariff plan that allows one to make calls at 11k/sec (6.60k/Min) on flat rate to all network after a daily access fee of N5. This is almost the same thing we saw with MTN TRUTALK+.

Porting to this plan is very easy. Just Dial *401#  or text 401 to 131 to migrate to MTN XtraPro for free...

START GETTING AN EXTRA 10 PERCENT OF WHATEVER YOU RECHARGE INSTANTLY FROM TODAY

I don’t know if any other person has actually discovered this but I have been enjoying this freebie especially on my MTN line since last year (2015). Earlier in 2015, I wrote an article – ‘Why you don’t need recharge cards’ that mainly explained the direction the nation is going now and the easiest ways one can now recharge his phone through his/her bank account without any stress or hassles of looking for where to buy paper recharge cards.

I did not just write that article, I actually started using my bank account to do all my recharges since then and I have discovered something which I don’t think MTN or other networks wants to publicize.

That truth is that anytime you recharge from your bank account, your network provider (especially MTN) gives you 10 percent of whatever amount you recharge. This means that assuming you recharge N500, you will instantly be credited with EXTRA N50; recharge N1000; you will instantly be credited with an EXTRA N100 that you can use to call any network in Nigeria and beyond. I think this is a move in support of the cashless economy currently being propagated in the country and also a move to minimize the cost of producing recharge cards from the network providers.

As indicated in that article, my registered line with the bank is my MTN line and that’s the same line I use in receiving my bank alerts and correspondences. This bonus will always come before even your bank notifies you of any transactions you have made; i.e the amount that has been deducted from your bank account and credited as airtime on your phone as a result of the recharge.

The message notifying you of the bonus(MTN VTU) will always tell you what USSD code to press to check and verify your bonus but for MTN users, you just need to press *559*4# to check and verify your bonus account. Any chargeable call you make after this time will be charged from that bonus instead of your main account until it finishes.
Please, this offer is not limited to MTN lines alone. You can have this also on your own network.

Please try out this vital info and tell us what you discovered or the challenges you are having in receiving your own in the comment box below:
